Community Involvement
Frontier Landscaping is proud to play an active part in the communities in which we live and work. We have donated time and services to groups in Vancouver, Portland and Clark County.
Frontier Landscaping Helps with Downtown Vancouver Spruce the Couv 2010- 2023
Frontier Landscaping is happy to sponsor and participate in the downtown Vancouver Spruce the Couv cleanups of Esther Short Park and Propstra Square. This is part of a larger annual community project to clean up downtown Vancouver.
In 2023 along with more than 120 other volunteers, we planted 2,000+ flowers in Esther Short Park, removed 50 bins of litter and yard debris across 30 city blocks, and picked up 3,000 cigarette butts that will be recycled.
We enjoy being active and engaged in our local community, and this event is one way we can connect with others and beautify the downtown Vancouver area.
The result was a beautiful, cleaner downtown Vancouver, and we thank our fellow volunteers for turning out in big numbers to help. It really feels good to be part of a community that cares about making our city a better place to live!:
Seeing how fast the workday progresses is gratifying due to the many dedicated volunteers! We all work hard removing trash and cleaning up planting beds and islands.

Arbor Day Event At The Vancouver Mall
The Arbor Day event that was orchestrated by the mall was the first of its kind with many more to hopefully be a continued event for years to come. Frontier tree service and Frontier Landscaping helped provide not only the trees that were installed but a Hands-On experience on the benefit that trees provide as well as all the aspects of properly installing a tree. Assistance was also provided by the city of Vancouver’s urban forestry Department. This event was open to the public with many staff from the mall on hand as well. This was a great experience that brought people together for the understanding and benefits that trees provide for our Urban landscape.
Sunshine Division Food Drive
The Portland Police Bureau Sunshine Division has been providing food and clothing relief to Portland families and individuals in need since 1923 with a legacy of mobilizing quickly and efficiently to assist those in distress.
Frontier Landscaping is proud to have raised 161.5 pounds of food for this year’s (2015) Sunshine Division Food Drive. By joining forces with other groups, organizations and individuals, we helped make this year’s drive a monumental success.
After raising 3 tons of food last year, organizers hoped to raise 4 or perhaps as much as 5 tons this time. Shortly after the food drive they reported:
“Our goal was met and exceeded… your company deserves a big pat on the back… we received 8.2 tons of food!”
Our Founding Mothers

Vancouver’s newest public art piece, “Founding Mothers,” honors the women who have shaped the community throughout history.
The metal and stone sculpture is located at the corner of 6th and Columbia streets and represents both passion and hard work.
Frontier Landscaping partnered with other businesses and groups in carrying out the project. They helped erect and landscape the sculpture, making good use of an otherwise nondescript island downtown.
The metal and stone sculpture is a 12-foot, open-ended heart representing the open hearts of the women who’ve served tirelessly to make a better community. It is anchored by a large boulder reflective of the solid foundation these women laid and the grounding and balance it takes to create real change.
Battle Ground Veterans Memorial
Ground Veterans Memorial was dedicated Nov. 11, 2015, under full military honor guard. Veterans and their families, Boy Scout troops and hundreds of others gathered at its resting place in Kiwanis Park to honor the sacrifice made by 31 veterans from the Battle Ground area whose names are engraved on a curving stone wall that is beautifully landscaped and maintained.
Battle Ground Parks & Recreation Department spent the last six years raising the $42,000 needed to construct the memorial – money that all came from donations. Frontier Landscaping joined forces with nearly three dozen local contractors and vendors who donated time, labor, services and/or materials to make the project a reality. It is now a place for private reflection or other events that honor veterans.
Humane Society
Frontier Landscaping installed an irrigation system for the Humane Society for the dog run area called: “Freedom fence”
Urban Forestry Department
Vancouver’s Urban Forestry Department facilitates an active integrated program that seeks to maximize the aesthetic, environmental and economic benefits trees provide to city residents and visitors.
Columbia Springs
Columbia Springs is composed of 100 acres of urban natural area where kids and grown-ups learn about the natural world and stewardship. Events include K-12 field trips, summer camps and workshops. We seeded the expansive lawn where school groups and other visitors can picnic and play.
Downtown Vancouver Clean-up
Frontier Landscaping is proud to pitch in with many other community members and groups in carrying out Vancouver Downtown Association’s annual spring clean-up. Several members of our crew volunteer their time to help clear fallen branches, tidy planter boxes and more to help get everything spruced up for the summer season!
Turtle Place
Through a cooperative effort of Vancouver Downtown Association, the City of Vancouver and C-Tran, this former C-Tran bus stop at 7th and Main was transformed into a landscape of sustainability and urban beauty.
Greencare for Troops
Greencare for Troops is a nationwide outreach program coordinated by Project EverGreen in which local lawn and landscape firms volunteer to help maintain green spaces for families whose primary provider is serving overseas.
SHARE
A non-profit organization providing shelter, food and emergency services through four shelters to assist people in getting back into permanent housing and mitigate the factors that lead to homelessness.
Block 10
We installed and maintained a landscape on Block 10 (also called Heritage Square) on Washington Street between 8th and 9th. The then-vacant city block was revitalized into a temporary park until an owner and improvement plans were in place.
Landscaper’s Challenge
In the summer of 2006, we had the unique opportunity to take part in a Landscaper’s Challenge on HGTV. We were selected to install a landscape, which Gregg and Ellis Landscape Designs had created. The Kirby’s yard was transformed into an outdoor family living space with areas created for each family member. These areas included a formal paver pathway and patio, a natural stone patio and fire pit with large seating boulders, a natural stone hammock patio, play equipment, raised gardens and a new lawn. The experience was extremely fun and rewarding.
Little League Field of Dreams
By espousing the virtues of character, courage and loyalty over merely athleticism, Little League looks to develop citizens who in turn will find ways to better their community as they grow.
Community Award
We were honored to receive the “Albina Fuel Award – Outstanding Corporate Partner” from the Vancouver Downtown Association (VDA). Their mission, which we’re on board with, is to revitalize and strengthen our greater downtown community. Over the years, we have partnered with the VDA in volunteer work, designing and installing new landscapes and offering landscape maintenance services for downtown parks.
